From Matt Mullenweg, WordPress in this podcast:

(1) Be a most passionate user

(2) Be detail oriented – analyze and discuss every thing

(3) Get off the computer: Use pencil, paper and a nice place to solve problems

(4) Be your own support: Instead of AJAX feedback form a contact us page with a support form works better. Try to wow the person who contacts for support.

(5) Have a tag line: Have different tag lines for different people like users, investors, employees etc

(6) Get out the 1.0 as soon as possible – release early and often

(7) Have metrics for everything you do: measure comments/day, page views/day, users/day, topics/day, topics/user/day, hits/section etc

(8) Users are tricky: You should do as they do and not as they say. Don’t listen to feature requests

(9) You only get one chance to make a first impression, use it best: Make use of search engine keywords.

(10) Be a pain killer and not a vitamin: How is this site helping user save time? How is it helping the user kickass?
