Wikia Social Search

Wikia, a Sanfrancisco, CA based company has done some search innovations…
When you go to Wikia.com and search for a text, the search results are retrieved from google or yahoo. 

User Participation Options

Take the mouse  over a search result and you see menu options like in this image:

Edit the search text
Edit option allows you to change the text shown by the search engine:

Highlight the search result
Spotlight allows you to highlight a search result – see the yellow colored highlighted result in the image below. 
Comment pops up a little text bar below the result in which you can give a comment against that site:

Annotate and make notes from search page
Best part is with the annotation, this is a very useful tool for research. Annotation opens the target site in a sub-window, where you can select a text and that will appear as your selection for that site.
